A Powerful Perspective

Departing Thoughts

A Powerful Perspective

Over the last week the team was reminded of the many things we take for granted.

A myriad of employment opportunities, health care access with choices, pharmaceuticals for nearly anything that ails us, clean water, electrical grids that keep our power on which makes our environment comfortable, and the amenities we use operable and plumbing that accommodates toilet paper.

After the 5th and final day of clinic, providing care to over 1121 souls, we took a moment to pause, reflect and share our experiences.  While everyone had a different story to tell, unanimously the team agreed that we were given more than we gave.

While we all came with a heart to serve, the Hondurans gave us the gift of perspective.  An immeasurable emotion that has changed our lives forever.

As we prepare for reentry, we have a renewed appreciation for the life that awaits us.

For the providers, returning to inboxes full of labs and test results reminds us how lucky we are to have access to phlebotomy and radiology.

We can smile when we get goosebumps walking into the hospital because of air conditioning.

Patient services won’t be interrupted throughout the day due to the loss of power once, twice or even three times.

When we awake in the early morning hours we can brush our teeth with clean water from the faucet.

We are all SO blessed and commit to never forgetting the lessons learned and perspective gained from our week in Honduras.

May the hugs from family always feel extra sweet. May we go forward with love in our hearts and apply our renewed perspective in our day-to-day encounters.

God is good.
