First day of clinic!

“Kids will be kids”

We arrived to a fairly empty elementary school early this Sunday morning with a few lovely souls cleaning floors and stacking chairs to help us get started. 

After a whirlwind set up and a lot of help from the locals at the school and the health clinic, we found a way to work around wooden school desks make some private treatment areas using tarps and curtains. 

We started off slowly, but it was a wonderful time to be able to set up and figure out the logistics of it all. 

We are welcomed with open arms. Several women from the community helped in the registration area and police security had also been arranged for us. 

We have general medicine, wound care, ob/gyn, neonatology, orthopedics, physical therapy and occupational therapy. In addition to the medical areas, we set up a “store” where the patients can pick from donated item such as reading glasses, toys and children’s clothing.

As always, the patients came! Pediatrics was the big hit today, and we are thankful to Dr Gregor for being our first pediatrician to travel with p4gh!   Seeing all those kids seemed fitting since we were seeing the local kids in their own school.  Many of us had a chance to throw a ball and enjoy a moment of fun with them.
